A few weekend’s ago, I happened to catch about 10 minutes of the Masters Tournament on TV. I don’t normally watch golf, but I appreciate stats and star power, and Tiger Woods had a shot at winning. Well, suddenly everything went crazy on the 16th hole and Tiger made one of the most memorable holes that will play and re-play in golf reels for all time. Then I read in my wack of agregated advertising blogs and people were actually creating “fan-vertising”: using footage from the event and creating Nike ads out of it. Brilliant, I thought. And what a statement about the strength of a brand’s hold on people, that they would CREATE THEIR OWN ADS for a product.
Well, as it turns out, it wasn’t just any ‘people’ doing this. It was Joseph Jaffe. Who is Joseph Jaffe? Well, I’m glad you asked. His own PR machine has this to say:
One of the most sought-after consultants, speakers and thought leaders on marketing and media, Joseph Jaffe is President and Founder of jaffe, L.L.C. – a “New Marketing” consulting practice.
He has his own blog called JaffeJuce, and his own book coming out called Life After the 30-Second Spot (which you can pre-order on Amazon) I signed up for his LA30 email alert just for the chance to win one of 20 autographed and FREE copies of his book. My guess is that I’m about the 2000th person to sign up… but you never know. Maybe he’ll be nice to me for giving his book more Google juice.
