This morning I got a lovely handmade card from my almost 3 year old daughter. In the middle of this card was an attempt to draw a heart, but one of the bumps was stretched out and elongated. This funny face had eyes, a nose, a happy smile, two arms and two legs, as well as three poker straight vertical lines for hair. At the far end of the elongated bump there were a few more hairs that looked almost like whiskers. “Happy Valentimes Day Daddy,” she said, holding out the card and giving me a hug. “Who’s this?” I asked, pointing to her black on red crayon rendering. “That,” she said with the utmost love and sincerity, “is a rat.”
